As you might or might not have noticed, I haven't written a blog post for quite some time. The reason is simply that school has started. I feel like this is a new beginning for me so I'm trying my best to distance myself from all the old stuff just so I can make room for the new stuff. Everything is so different this year and it feels weird to open this blog and write a post. I don't know why. My interest in fashion has not drifted away, it's rather the opposite. Although, I know longer look for inspiration on the internet, I've turned to reading magazines (a rather expensive hobby I have to admit..) and simply examining other people's outfits from a far. What good does staying on the internet all day do? I know for a fact that it won't help me increase my confidence even more and take steps towards the future. This pause I'm taking will hopefully not be final but I feel like it's a necessary thing to do right now. I can promise you all that I will miss blogging and I don't doubt I'll be back online within a few months. Punk hugs, Maria.

An ode to Icelandic summer
In July I spent a week at a family house in Olafsfjordur in Iceland. The weather sucked the whole time (except for the day we left, that was the sunniest day we got..) but we had a splendid time.
This is my ode to Icelandic summer:
On the road |
Zoomed selfie |
Midnight snack |
This cottage belongs to my great-grandparents, the stuff I found there was so random and weird (but still crazy cool). |
I spent a lot of time knitting over there |
"One Latte to-go" is a sentence I've said to much this summer. |
Akureyri |
Cute little bumblebee |
Expressing myself the only way I know how. |
The marina in Akureyri |
Little sister taking a break from all the walking |
We found this super cool place by the ocean where we took loads of photos |
The view from our kitchen window |
I come here every year yet it never dissapoints |
The view from the bathroom window |
Of course we had to leave as soon as the sun showed itself. |
Our last night was kind of sad, who wants to leave a place like this? |

Maria

Back to school must-haves!
1. Falke tights
Falke tights are a complete must-have for fall, they never seem to rip or even get old! I've had a pair for over five years and they still look brand new. Please note that I'm not talking about the nylon ones, they are wonderful too but pretty impossible to wear during winter over here. If you are able to wear nylon stockings during winter wherever you are know that I am deeply jealous of you.
Due to the fact that I've graduated my old school and am bout to start a new semester in a totally different surrounding I thought I'd better stop using my 5£ backpack from Primark and invest in a proper one. I spent some time thinking about it but always came to the same conclusion: Fjallraven. And because I'm so damn adventurous I picked a yellow one. Yellow is the color of happiness and positivity so no color is better for this new period of my life!
The biggest must-have of them all, though, is good mood. The thought of starting school again after a summer full of swimming, sunbathing and shopping is a little bit dreadful so being positive is a necessity. Start everyday with a smile and everything will be so much easier!
Thanks for stopping by!
Punk hugs,
Maria
2. Black boyfriend coat
This probably doesn't need explaining. A black boyfriend coat is a must-have for every season but I am craving one for this semester. I spotted this one in Topshop the other day and it's been on my mind since I left it on that rail..
3. Fjallraven backpack

4. Warm and oversized sweater
The thrift shops are full of them and all I have to say is: duh.
(this one is from topshop though) |
5. Rain coat
A definite must have for August and September. Again, I've turned to Topshop for inspiration (their new line is amazeballs). This coat is breathtakingly gorgeous, I only wish they had it in black.
Well, okay, maybe it's not technically a raincoat but it's plastic so it will at least keep the rain away from my sweaters.. |

School outfits!
Since August has knocked on our doors I've decided to choose three outfits I'll be wearing this school year. I graduated high school this spring so I'm starting a new semester in a completely different environment. The excitement/anxiety is killing me. It comforts me to think that even though i'll be surrounded by new people and new classes my clothes will always stay the same.
Maybe my nerves are getting a little crazy, I can't seem to go through one day without that huge knot in my stomach. When I feel nervous (aka all the time) I like to open up my closet and remind myself of who I am. I doubt many of you know what I'm talking about, I doubt any of you do, but if there is one person that cares as much about her/his clothes as I do then I want to say: I feel you.
Wow, what a heartwarming blog post this has been. I better go and fetch the pack of tissues.
And now to the main part. My top three school outfits:
Best thrift shop find ever:
This dress is as comfortable as it is gorgeous. It is the perfect first-day-of-school outfit and if I could I would wear it every day.
Fancy playsuit thingy:
Playsuit by Miss Dorby |
This is perfect if you want to be a classy yet I-just-jumped-out-of-the-movie-clueless lady. It is a perfect piece to throw on and I know it will look wonderful with the black winter coat I haven't bought yet.
Comfy, classy and effortless:
