3 spring and summer trends that I love.

The classic buttoned-down shirt

This look was all over the runways this year, Balenciaga, Dior, Acne, Alexander Wang and the list goes on and on. The shirt is super classic and goes with almost everything. Plus you look a lot more respectable for some unexplained reason.. What's not to love?

Bold and colorful prints

The Picasso vibe was very prominent and I really loved how Karl Lagerfeld was able to make it look so glamorous. Céline, Prada and Jil Sander and many more were also taking part in this new pop art obsession that is going around and it's fabulous. Now I will refuse to wear anything black! (just kidding, that would be almost impossible.....)

Tribal pattern

It was very big at the Valentino spring couture show but it seems like almost everyone is participating in this new trend. The colors are so natural and the prints are so lovely.

Things I found at the beach

The sun showed it's face today, thank god is all I can say. So what is more perfect than taking your two best friends to the beach? (by best friends I mean my dogs...) I found a few interesting things and thought I might share them with you all, so enjoy!

Things I found at the beach:

A shoe that looked like it had been through a lot.

A pretty big spiral

The sun

Cute little puppy footsteps

A smiley face

Cute little puppy

Big and scary dog

I was wearing way too much (didn't expect it to be so warm but oh well.)
Scarf: Varma
Coat: H&M
Sunglasses: Lindex
Cardigan: Topshop
Lipstick: Snob by MAC

Summer essentials

It's snowing outside. It's actually snowing. I've been having fantasizes of the sun and bikinis too many times this week. Right this moment I'm sitting in my room and I'm listening to the wind, the skies are grey and there are snowflakes everywhere. That might have made me happy in November but not in late March.
I'm craving the sun, it's been too long since I saw it around. The past Sunday I even bought a pair of sunglasses even though it will probably be another month before I can use them.
Today was horrible so I decided to lighten my mood (or maybe make it worse) by listening to summery songs and planning beach outfits. Then I thought, why not make a blog post about it? So here it is, my summer essentials.

1. A high wasted bikini.

I really love the high wasted bikinis Topshop is selling right now. They are super chic and my number one essential for summer 2014

2.  Pretty sandals.

These are from Urban Outfitters and I think they are just to die for. I love that the heel isn't too high and they are just the perfect summer sandals.

3. A polaroid camera.

Imagine all the moments you can capture with a polaroid camera in your purse. Your friends at the beach, your dog by the ocean, a beautiful sunrise. The possibilities are endless. A polaroid camera is definitely a summer must-have.

4. Pink lipstick.

What is more summery than pink lipstick? Not much. These two are my favorites, Snob by MAC and the other one is from Body Shop. The Body Shop one is very bright but the second one is very matte and light. Two different colors for two different summery occasions.

5. Round sunglasses.

These are my absolute favorite. I got them in Topshop last summer and we've been inseparable ever since. They are so perfect and were super expensive. I can wear them with pretty much everything, no matter winter or summer. I've got nothing but love for these sunglasses.

That's it for this week's blog post, hope you enjoyed!

Experimenting with photography

A few months ago my mother bought a Canon EOS camera. We've only had crap cameras so it was fantastic to get a real camera in my hands. I got kind of lost taking pictures of everything, I took a billion pictures of our two dogs, I took pictures of scenery and I took pictures of everything in between that. I did one photoshoot with my little sister where I put makeup on her and made her look all grown up. She loved posing and I loved taking her photo. I'm not going to put those pictures up because she's only eleven and does not want her photo on the internet. I really like taking pictures and I would consider it a new hobby of mine. So you could imagine my surprise and joy when I found out I was going to a photography class! I got it as a birthday present and I'm super excited to go and learn everything about my camera and how to use the light and stuff like that. I wanted to show you guys a few pictures I've taken over the last few months, so please enjoy that! Feel free to leave a comment telling me what you like about the photos or what could go better!

This is my dog Flóki, he is very photogenic and a total sweetheart, although
he can sometimes be a total pain in the ass... (he barks a lot)

This is my bedroom window,  I really liked how my bunny lamp (yes it's a
lamp!!!!) looked with the snowy yard in the background.

This is the view from my mom's bedroom window. It was taken around
noon so you can see the winter sunlight creeping behind the houses.

This was taken at the same time I took the photo above. The sun that day
was really nice and my mom has these lace curtains that make these
cool shadows when it's sunny outside.

This is a picture of a tombstone in the graveyard my great-grandparents are
buried in. I really liked the candle and the text says : "Blessed be their memory"
which I think is just beautiful.

This is a picture of flowers my grandmother got for her sixtieth birthday.
I took it right after she put them in the vase so they are not settled yet
but still look amazing.

This is a picture from the photoshoot I did with my sister. I told her to wear
a coat we found in my grandparents wardrobe. It's got the biggest shoulder
patches I've ever seen and it was way too big for my sister so it was super funny
to see her wearing it.

This is my lovely German shepherd, Freyja. This is mostly how she spends
her days, lying on the floor half asleep. If she's not doing that she's somewhere
throwing a stick at somebody, begging them to play with her.

I took this pic sort of as a joke because I thought their bums looked so cute on
that rug. It turned out looking really cute and it makes me want to cuddle
both of them.
These two are the cutest best friends you could ever imagine. They hate
being apart and in the morning they cuddle like a newly married couple. I don't
think I could live without them.

Vök

My new favorite band is deffinetly the Icelandic band Vök. They make amazing electronic/alternative music, which I usually don't like at all, but I saw them live and it was absolutely mesmerizing. The next day I had their LP album in my hands. I was pretty shocked to find Icelandic music that I liked because I've never liked a single Icelandic song. I think that seeing is beliveving so please check them out below! They are amazing.

March favorites

Due to the fact that it was my birthday two weeks ago my room seems to be packed with new stuff.
New clothes, new books and new music so it seemed only right to do a March favorites post.

The day after my birthday I went with my mom and sister to get a late birthday present. I had already gotten a curling iron but my mom insisted on finding something more. So we went thrifting, of course. I found lots of stuff this time and I ended up buying two more sheer shirts, two high waisted jeans, two knit sweaters and these pants above. I adore everything I bought and I feel super happy with the items. I especially love the three items above. The pants are so comfortable and I love the Clueless vibe they give off.

This one was a birthday present from my best friend. She knows how obsessed with Sherlock Holmes I am so this was the perfect gift for me. As you can see it says The essential mysteries in one sitting. That means I can read all the Sherlock mysteries in ten minutes or so. Perfect.

This was also a gift from another best friend of mine. It's a 5-year journal where I write down answers to questions everyday for five years and as the years go by I can keep track on how I've changed over the years. I am obsessed and so far I haven't missed a day! Yay me!

I don't think this one needs any caption at all. Again, this was a birthday present from yet another best friend. She shares my love for literature and old stuff. These poems are so beautiful and Sylvia Plath is my favorite. It's so incredible that she was one of the very first female poets and an inspiration to all the poets that followed her footsteps.

This one I got from my friend who bought me the mini Sherlock stories. I'd never read it before and was dying to do so. I had been babbling about how I hadn't found the book with a pretty cover so she found it for me. She's the best. I started reading it immediately and it's so great. Perfectly written and I'm so in love. I am kind of happy I haven't read it before because now I can fully experience it.

This purse I bought for myself. I did it in a hurry, was buying birthday presents for my sister in Zara and was on my way home to study for a math exam. When I spotted this purse I was sure it was going home with me. I could just picture myself wearing my new yellow dress with this purse over the shoulder. It's also the perfect size, not too small and not too big.

That's all for my March favorites post. I wanted to do something different this time because I've been doing so many fashion show recaps. I have put those posts on hold for a bit and am only going to post my absolute favorites at the end of Fashion week, which is pretty soon so stay tuned!
