Angelina Jolie is the queen of red lips

Oh, the art of wearing red lipstick. It can go so right and it can go so wrong.
It's a problem that I've had myself for a few years.I feel like I can only wear lipstick with black clothes. As soon as I put on colored clothes while wearing red lipstick it's gone two minutes later. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because the red shades I own are all really bright or maybe it's just because I like wearing black.
I know people who don't have the confidence for wearing bright, red lipstick but at the same time I know people who rock it. So, perhaps it's just a formula; perhaps you can learn it all by memorizing a few tips. If so, I want someone to let me know.

Well, the point of this post is to try to get one step closer to my goal: Wearing red lipstick without removing it within 30 seconds. Once again I've turned to the internet for some help. First I found out what my skin tone is and then (like every other stereotype) I googled celebrities with the same skin tone wearing red lipstick. Wow, can this get more cheesier?  The results I got were not so marvelous so I quit making it complicating and googled the obvious: Angelina Jolie Red lips.

If there is one person that can pull off red lipstick it's Angelina Jolie. What I noticed whilst scrolling through endless images of perfection were the clothes she wore with the lipstick. Black, white and red. Hardly anything else. So maybe that's the secret? Wear colors that you know match your lips and you're good.

If you have any tips or tricks up your sleeve feel free to share them with me down in the comments!

Spring time

Today was the first proper spring-day. It was so sunny outside that I was able to overlook the cold wind. After a trip to an art show I went home and all I wanted to do was take photos. So I did.
I went outside to our yard for the first time this spring and I looked at the flowers and trees. Everything looked so green! Anyway, I can definetely say that I'm looking forward to more sunny days like these.

I hope the weather is as nice where you are! :)

May favorites in monochrome

I forgot to make an April favorites post so I thought I'd make this one a little different from the rest of them. Don't get your hopes up though, it's just going to be in black and white. These items are all over the place and don't really connect or fit together but that's just more fun, right? I bought a few of these items in my recent trip to Latvia and some I've had for a while but have just recently started appreciating. Well, enough babble... Enjoy my May favorites!

Nr. 1 - Garnier BB cream

I bought this BB creme in a supermarket in Latvia because my friends had been talking about it nonstop. It did not disappoint. It's the only thing I put on my face in the morning and I feel fresh the whole day through. I wasn't sure if I should buy it or not since I have sensitive skin when it comes to foundations and BB creams but I've got nothing to complain about, no zits and no oily skin!

Nr. 2 - Real Techniques Starter Set (Eye definition)

I've been planning on buying this for a long time and I finally picked it up at the airport on our way to Riga. It is as flawless as everyone says and I can't imagine how I survived so long without these brushes.

Nr. 3 - Hat from H&M

A hat has been on my wishlist for over a year now and I had kind of given up hope when I found this one in H&M. My head is huge and no hats fit me so when I tried that one on I didn't think it would actually fit. But it did and I almost cried from happiness. It will probably not leave my head this summer.

Nr. 4 - Vanilla incense sticks

I bought these a few weeks ago and whenever I've been feeling down lately I light one. They smell so good and the air in the room instantly becomes ten times better.

Nr. 5 - Eurythmics Greatest Hits

This CD has been buried underneath a whole bunch of books and other CD's for a while now and just yesterday I found it again. I had completely forgotten how good this album really is and I especially love "Sweet dreams (Are Made Of This)" and "Here Comes The Rain Again".

Nr. 6 - Purse from H&M

I picked this purse up for only 9.99 euros and it's the perfect purse for me. The zipper is gold (you can't see because I decided these photos should be in black and white... great decision Maria...) and the purse is such a great size. You can easily fit a phone, keys, lipstick and sunglasses inside it and due to the fact that it's still too small for lot of crap to build up at the bottom you can't lose anything in it.

Nr. 7 - Belgian truflfes

These were a gift from the Latvian girl I stayed with. They are so delicious, crispy on the outside and pure dreamy on the inside. I have no other words for these truffles except for perfect. (Yes there are only two left, they taste like heaven no judging...)

Nr. 8 - Cute picture of me and my friends

There is a super cute story behind this photo. This was the day we vistied the Baltic sea and it was super hot outside so my friend bought herself an icecream. As soon as we walked out the shop I regretted not buying one myself. The kids from our group were hanging at the beach but we wanted to stay where the wind didn't get us. I remember this moment so clearly because I noticed that the cute boy from the group was staring at us. Then he picked up his camera and took this photo, of me tasting my friend's ice cream. It means a lot to me, because me and my friends are all going our seperate ways after this year and I'll never see that cute boy again. I have this picture sitting on my bedside table and it will be there for a long time.

Met Gala - top 10 best dressed

I've been scanning the internet all day, looking at gorgeous people who attended the Met ball last night. It made me envious to see all the beautiful dresses, people and jewelry. There is something magical about Jay-Z jokingly proposing to Beyoncé when she drops her ring on the red carpet. Honestly, I get goosebumps.
The Met ball is a fashion event (duh) so I felt sort of obligated to do a top ten post, like everyone else. I went through all the photos from the Vogue website and some other sites as well and I picked out ten looks I think are absolutely to die for. Enjoy!

1. Number one is of course Lupita N'yongo wearing Prada. How she manages to look this amazing every time she attends events is a mystery to me. I'd like to meet her stylist, for sure. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've never seen Lupita in a bad outfit. She gets it right every single time.

2. I think it's obvious that Johnny Depp is aging like fine wine, he just keeps getting better. His soon to be bride, Amber Heard, is looking gorgeous as well. She was wearing a simple yet magnificent Giambattista Valli Haute Couture silk gown and was rocking that lipstick. I can say without regret that I'm a little jealous of Amber. I mean, she's walking the red carpet with Johnny Depp by her side....

3. I'm so in love with the Ralph Lauren dress Rachel McAdams was wearing. It's so simple and beautiful, just how I like them. The color suits her so well and she's looking stunning. Sometimes less is more.

4. Of course Sarah Jessica Parker looked perfect. She never disappoints. This dress is so Carrie Bradshaw that it leaves me feeling nostalgic. Hmm... maybe I should re-watch Sex And The City...

5. No list is completed without Beyoncé. She was as perfect as always and her and Jay Z were so adorable it made me feel like a potato. A lonely potato. They were both wearing Givenchy and their outfits were mesmerizing. I don't think words can describe how good they are together, the photo speaks for itself.

6. Chloe Moretz is one of the greatest young actresses in Hollywood these days. She is doing amazing things and was rocking Chanel last night. I believe she will be huge in the future, both in fashion and film.

7. Dita von Tesse was looking very Snow white last night. A look i'm a total sucker for. This Zac Posen dress fits her figure perfectly and I can't really get my mind around the fact that she is 42! She looks so young!

8. Lena Dunham looked so cute in that Giambattitsa Valli Haute Couture dress. She is rocking that bob and her red carpet photos make me smile. She just looks so happy in all of them. Lena is just such an inspiration to me when it comes to doing whatever I want. I will forever look up to her.

9. I think we can all agree on that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are Hollywoods most handsome couple. They look photoshopped in all their pictures, it just doesn't make sense? They were both wearing Gucci and were both looking delicious.

10. Last but not least is Stella Tennant in Burberry. I've been a fan of her for quite some time now or ever since I saw her 2013 Chanel campaign. This photo represents everything I want to be in life; Tall, glamorous and at the met ball. Stella is such a natural beauty and will also be an inspiration to me forever.

Maria
